BC HRT ruled that Jonathan Yaniv aka Jessica Serenity Simpson’s dog Rexy is NOT A “SERVICE DOG” in a decision that BC landlords every where must be thrilled to read.
Simpson v. BC Ministry of Attorney General, 2026 BCHRT 85 (CanLII) was dismissed on April 1, 2026. No joke. Case dismissed. Another loss for the Loser.
Fat Jon filed a BC HRT claim against “His Majesty the King in Right of the Province of British Columbia as represented by the Ministry of Attorney General” for rejecting Fat Jon‘s pet dog Rexy as a service dog, and ejecting the dog and Fat Jon from a court building. Apparently this claim has been festering the in bowels of the BC HRT for awhile, as the document notes (not the date it was filed but) that “On June 2, 2025, the Ministry applied to dismiss the complaint.” The BC HRT wanked about and gave the wankless Fat Jon until December 17, 2025 to get his shit packed to prove his claim. Fat Jon merely replied by email saying,“I don’t have any documents to provide, but I do want to proceed with this. Thank you.”
NO DOCUMENTS TO PROVE ANYTHING HE CLAIMED!
Tribunal Member Jonathan Chapnick wasn’t fucking about, and broke it down… “Given the lack of almost any evidence before me that could support Ms. Simpson’s alleged disability-related need for the Dog, I find that the nexus between her disabilities and the Adverse Impacts “is too tenuous” for her complaint to proceed to a hearing” so fuck off.
No evidence of (a) diabetes (b) anxiety (c) PTSD (d) depression or (e) hearing impairment that the wonder mutt Rexy the Non-Service dog would help Fat Jon live with. No evidence provided. Nada. Fat Jon says he has “Physical and/or mental disabilities” – but couldn’t be bothered to provide any proof. “No document disclosure whatsoever in this proceeding.”
You can read the frustration in the Tribunal Member’s words.
